Seminar - Recent Developments and Use of Technology in Litigation. 1 CPD point

This seminar will provide practical and topical information regarding strategies to address the challenges, risks and costs involving electronically stored information (ESI) and the obligations imposed upon solicitors and clients the result of the revised Federal Court Practice Note CM 6 and CM 5. Amongst other things the seminar will:
- Reference the Practice Note schedules, current Australian developments ( including the Australian Law Reform Commission inquiry into federal discovery laws) and the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) framework
- Provide a brief overview of current UK and US developments and the relevance to the Australian jurisdiction
- Provide an understanding of the legal obligations regarding discovery and similar ESI requests in legal and other proceedings
- Discuss strategies to maximise the benefits and minimise the risks in complying with current obligations
- Provide an understanding of, and strategies for working with, key stakeholders
- Provide strategies to control costs relating to ESI management and eDiscovery
- Discuss policies and procedures regarding the management of ESI within an organisation
- Provide a brief and practical overview of strategic and cost effective data identification, forensic search and preservation strategies
- Provide a brief and practical overview of the strategic and cost effective use of advanced analytics, culling, review and production techniques
