Corporate Social Responsibility
Statement of Commitment
e.law has made an ongoing commitment to behave ethically and to contribute to economic development, while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families, as well as the local community and society at large. By balancing the social, environmental and economic obligations of the company, our CSR Policy aims to ensure that business operations and development are ‘sustainable.’ This means that the company meets the needs of the present generation, without interfering with the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
Community
At e.law, all staff are encouraged to participate in various community activities, through either participation in fund raising events, or by donating to charitable organisations. This year our people are involved in:
- The Nissan/BRW Corporate Triathlon - raising money for Best Buddies Australia
- The 2010 MS Australia Walk & Fun Run
- The Vinnies CEO Sleepout - raising awareness and funds to help combat homelessness
- Jeans for Jeans day
- Movember
- The Cancer Council Big Morning Tea
- Drawtism
- Sponsors of City of Sydney Historical Association (COSHA)
In addition e.law has had an ongoing relationship over the past 6 years with "Best Buddies Australia" (a not for-profit organisation seeking to enhance the lives of people with intellectual disability) through sponsorship, provision of administrative assistance and assisting with fundraising strategies. e.law is supportive of our client’s pro bono activities through the provision of free services for pro bono matters. In turn, e.law provides free legal technology educations seminars and CLE’s at the College of Law and Australian Universities.
Environment
We are committed to a sustainable future through the adoption of environmentally responsible policies and practices. As part of this commitment, we acknowledge our responsibility to reduce the impact that our business operations will have on the environment. We do this through the following initiatives:
- Use of recycled or ‘green’ products where possible, including paper
- Recycling of toner cartridges, batteries, IT equipment - involved in the Cartridge Program 4 Collection, whereby our empty cartridges are collected and donated to raise money for the charity Father Chris Riley - raising money to keep youth off the streets
- A land reforestation project in Queensland that focuses on re-vegetation of cleared land in unique ecological areas
- A carbon offset program
- Energy audit initiatives through Origin energy to ensure e.law offices nationally function as efficiently as possible
Workplace
e.law is committed to the health and well being of its’ employees and their families and consistently strives to provide a balanced and opportunity rich workplace.
- Certified compliance with Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Act 1999(EOWA) through promotion of women in leadership and management roles and ongoing commitment to workplace EO programs
- The permanent placement of a special needs and intellectually disabled employees within e.law
- Formal career development programs, including funding for external education and training, study leave and flexible working arrangements
